WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components.

CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. Obtain radio code card from customer. Note stored stations and restore them after connecting battery. Stored settings of on-board computer and clock will also be lost. All available central keys must be recoded for cars with first generation infrared transmitter locking systems.

Engine compartment

Power Distribution Box (Z4) has the following consumers:

• Electric Auxiliary Heater
• Electric Fan
• Electronic Power Steering (EPS)
• Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) Return Pump
• Fuse U2: Supply Voltage For Electric Fan
• Fuse U3: Supply Voltage For DSC Return Pump
• Fuse U4: Supply Voltage For Electric Auxiliary Heater

NOTE: Power Distribution Box Z8 (Fuse block on the battery ) contains fuses and relays. If one of the fuses or one of the relays is faulty, the complete power distribution box must be replaced.

Power Distribution Box (Z8) has the following consumers:

• Power distribution box at front in the junction box (passenger compartment)
• Power distribution box, rear (luggage compartment)
• Electronics box in engine compartment for Valvetronic, common rail (fuel injection for diesel fuel)
• Top HiFi amplifier
• Intelligent battery sensor (IBS)
